YEREVAN CITY

Yerevan is located in the mountainous land of Armenia and one of the oldest city in the world.
It is continuously inhabited as a city since 1782 B.C., pretty old right? however Yerevan has been undergoing major transformation as many parts of the city and this is what's inside. .

Inside of Yerevan City there is a REPUBLIC SQUARE designed by Alexander Tamanyan in 1924.

It consists of two sections: an oval roundabout and a trapezoid-shaped section which contains a pool with musical fountains with lighting effects. The square is surrounded by five major buildings built in pink and yellow tuff in the neoclassical style with extensive use of Armenian motifs. This architectural ensemble includes the Government House, the History Museum, National Gallery, Marriott Hotel and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

No doubt that this area of Yerevan city is really beautiful. But maybe you will ask, what is the republic square looked like more than 100 years ago?

Here it is:

The picture was captured in 1916. What a big Transformation right?

Let's go back to the modern world of Yerevan.

About 5 to 10 minutes walk from Republic Square, there is a giant stairway made by limestones.. . The Cascade.

It was started to built in 1971 and completed in 1980. Inside of it underneath the exterior steps, there are seven escalators that rise along the length of the complex. There are also exhibit halls connected to some of the landings along the escalators which compose the Cafesjian Museum of Modern Art.

Exterior view is also interesting! On top of the giant stairways, you will see the whole city of Yerevan with the beautiful Ararat Mountain. (the view is on top picture)

On the other side of the city there is a pedestrian avenue called North Ave.

The avenue is mainly home to luxurious residential buildings, high-end branded shops, commercial offices, coffee shops, hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs.

There is also two-leveled underground "Tashir Street Shopping Gallery" along the Avenue, with the first level containing the shopping center and the second is for the parking area.

In addition, there is also four more malls in Yerevan. The Yerevan Mall, Dalma Mall, Rossia Mall, and the new Rio Mall.

Is it safe here? Yes! In fact, there is no security check in the front doors of these shopping centers.

The reason is that this City is in the 29th rank safest cities in the world, based on the worldscapitalcities.com

Obviously, although this place is considered as one of the oldest city in the world, it is the same in the common cities that we know.

There is more to see inside of the Yerevan City, and we want you to see it for yourself!
